Connecting Europe with IoT digital transformation

  • Sigfox Ukraine and Heliot Europe start initiative to develop IoT network coverage along train corridor from Ukraine to Western Europe – for more security and transparency in goods and food supply chains
  • Sigfox Ukraine and Heliot Europe plan to ensure IoT radio infrastructure for coverage along the train corridor from Ukraine to Western Europe

Munich/Stuttgart, 17th May 2023 – During the Logimat trade show 2023 in Stuttgart, Heliot Europe, the biggest Sigfox 0G operator in Europe, and Sigfox Ukraine have founded an initiative to develop the IoT network coverage of the Trans-European railroad corridor that connects Western, Eastern Europe and Ukraine through Romania, Poland and Slovakia with Northern Adriatic Slovenia.

Blaž Golob, country manager of Heliot Europe in Slovenia, Martin Liboswar, country manager of Heliot Europe in Austria and Dmytro Ozerov, country manager of Sigfox Ukraine, want to join forces with the goals:

  1. To secure predictability of grain supply chain for food safety
  2. To provide transparent railroad tracking of goods throughout the Trans-European Rail Corri-dor network
  3. To motivate the railroad companies and logistic stakeholders to co-operate with each other using OG European IoT network platform
IoT technology for the train corridor from Ukraine to Western Europe

Tomáš Pavlíček, COO of Heliot Europe, said at the start of the initiative: “Trade relations between the countries in Eastern and Western Europe are becoming increasingly important. The expansion of the Sigfox 0G network along the trans-European railway corridor creates an important prerequi-site for goods and food deliveries to be transported even more efficient and safe in the future. The start of our initiative is an important milestone in this respect.”

With the development of connectivity through the railroads and also connecting cities the initiative will also establish the conditions for digital transformation of cities. The concrete steps include densification of the Sigfox 0G network for cross border moving of goods, intermodal logistics and in the case of cities smart metering of water, gas supply and waste management.
