What is IoT?

Global

The Sigfox 0G technology, on the market since 2011, was designed and developed from the start for IoT use. The low acquisition and operating cost as well as the long maintenance-free period and the flexible scalability make 0G the optimal solution for IoT.

Global

“The biggest advantage of Sigfox 0G, besides its low cost, is its minimal environmental impact: with an extremely long radio range and maintenance-free terminals for years, 0G is made for scalable IoT applications.”

Jan John, CTO Heliot Europe GmbH

Simple

Simple

Reduced to the essentials: By eliminating the need to configure connections and allowing standards-based devices to integrate with the cloud, Sigfox is easier to use for all users.

Reliable and safe

Simple is robust is secure: narrowband radio is still widely used in security-relevant environments. With Sigfox, the individual end device establishes the connection to the network – it is therefore not possible to attack or hack a device via the network. Sigfox is also considered insensitive to targeted interference with radio traffic.

Reliable & Safe

Efficient

Efficient

Saves energy: the Sigfox radio protocol allows radio communication with very low energy requirements. The low power combined with the short radio signal length allows for maximum autonomy of the objects. This means that many end devices can be used for years without recharging.

Sustainable

Less is sometimes more: designed as a ‘lean network’, Sigfox provides a powerful infrastructure for most IoT applications. The radio network operates with a very large range and at the same time very low radio power and underlines the idea of sustainability.

Sustainable

Low costs

Low costs

Low costs: benefit from widely available electronic components, low battery usage, low cost of implementation and integration of solutions and our simple network infrastructure with high long-term capacity.

Complementary

Powerful combination: Sigfox is the ideal complement to existing radio technologies and network solutions such as Bluetooth, GSM 2G / UMTS 3G / LTE 4G / 5G and Wifi. By combining Sigfox with other connectivity solutions, even more IoT solutions can be realised.

What does IoT mean?

What does IoT mean?

Internet of Things is the collective term for technologies of a global infrastructure of information societies that makes it possible to network physical and virtual objects with each other and have them work together through information and communication technologies.

The aim of the Internet of Things is to automatically collect relevant information from the real world, link it together and make it available in the network. This need for information exists because in the real world things have a certain state (e.g. “air is cold”, “printer toner is full”), but this state is not available in the network. The goal is therefore that many real things make their own state information available for further processing in the network.
