Heliot Europe aims to stabilize local network and improve customer service
Munich, October 2022 – Internet of Things specialist Heliot Europe is taking over the network operations of former Sigfox operators WND UK in the UK and IoT Denmark in Denmark with immediate effect. The aim of the acquisition is to further secure the basic supply nationwide and to consolidate Heliot Europe’s position as the largest operator of Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructures in Europe.
“With locations in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia and Liechtenstein, Heliot Europe is already represented in the heart of Europe. The takeover of network operations in Denmark and the UK was therefore the next logical step in our growth strategy,” comments Thomas Scheibel, CEO of Heliot Europe. “The takeover opens up completely new opportunities for us. We firmly believe in the market and the region. We are therefore particularly pleased that UnaBiz, the new owner of Sigfox technology, has placed its trust in us to manage two further country networks.”
As part of the takeover, Heliot Europe plans to expand its existing local network and further optimize it to meet customer-specific requirements. Thomas Scheibel, CEO of Heliot Europe, also sees further innovation potential for Heliot Europe: “Denmark and the UK enjoy a very special position in the IoT market, and we can learn a lot from these markets. Both countries are already very innovative, particularly in the smart city and smart facility sectors. In general, the UK has been a pioneer of modern technologies for years, which gives us a competitive advantage. The time is ripe for Massive IoT across Europe.”
For existing customers in Denmark and the UK, the takeover by Heliot Europe will change very little: existing contracts will be migrated to Heliot successively and active connections in the system will be continued directly. As part of the convergence of IoT networks, customers also have access to an expanded technology portfolio, such as LoRa or Mioty, in order to carry out applications such as asset tracking or monitoring even more reliably.
